Microsoft 365 Licence Review
Microsoft 365 billing has a quiet property: it keeps charging for decisions nobody remembers making. The licence assigned to someone who left last year. The E3 seat on an account that only ever opens a mailbox. The add-on bought for a project that finished. None of it announces itself, and the invoice arrives looking roughly like last month's, so nobody looks.
A licence review is a read-only pass over your tenant that maps every assigned licence against what that account actually uses. Sign-in activity, service usage, mailbox-only patterns, unassigned licences still on the bill, and seats on plans mismatched to how they are used.
What you get
A written report with a savings table in plain dollars per year, and the specific changes behind each line: which licences to remove, which to reassign, and which seats are on the wrong plan. Your IT provider makes the changes, or you do. I change nothing in your tenant; the access I use is read-only, and the report says exactly what was read.
What it costs
Fixed price, $950 plus GST. In most tenants of twenty seats or more, the first year's identified savings exceed the fee, which makes this the rare piece of IT work that arrives with its own business case attached.
What it is not
This is not a Microsoft partnership, a licensing resale, or a plan pitch. I do not sell licences and I take no commission from anyone, so a recommendation to drop a seat costs me nothing and a recommendation to keep one earns me nothing. The review looks at licensing only; if you want the security side of the same tenant examined, that is the posture review, and it is a separate engagement.
The work offered through robswain.au is one-off and self-contained by design. There is no retainer and no ongoing commitment: the engagement ends when the work is done, and you keep control of your own systems throughout.

Common questions
- What access does the review need?
- Read-only reporting access to the tenant, agreed at the start. I change nothing, and the report states exactly what was read.
- Can you make the licensing changes as well?
- No. The report says which licences to remove, reassign or change plan, and your IT provider or your own team makes the changes. I sell no licences and take no commission, which is what keeps the recommendations clean.
- What does a typical tenant save?
- It varies with size and how the tenant has been managed, but in most tenants of twenty seats or more the first year's identified savings exceed the fee. The report puts the number in plain dollars per year, per change.
- Is this a review of our IT provider?
- No. Licence drift accumulates in every tenant because nobody is paid to watch for it. The savings table is written so your provider can act on it directly.
